Dimmitt Chevrolet goes pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

IMG_3487CLEARWATER, Fla. – Commuters on U.S. 19 might notice something different in Clearwater on Monday. Dimmitt Chevrolet wrapped the front of their new-car building in pink to promote Breast Cancer Awareness month.

A crane arrived at 9 a.m. Friday morning and team members from Jungle Cat Marketing began to wrap the signature blue archway of the 25,000 square foot building in pink.

“This year we wanted to do something big to support Breast Cancer Awareness,” said Scott Collore, general manager of Dimmitt Chevrolet. “There is certainly a need for more awareness and research, as this disease affects hundreds of thousands of people each year, including both men and women.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, breast cancer in the United States is the most common cancer in women, no matter their race or ethnicity. It is the most common cause of death from cancer among Hispanic women and the second most common cause of death from cancer among white, black, Asian/Pacific Islander, and American Indian/Alaskan Native women.

20150925_160230Additionally, the CDC reports that in 2012, there were 224,147 women and 2,125 men in the U.S. who were diagnosed with breast cancer, while 41,150 women and 405 men in the U.S. died from breast cancer.

Dimmitt Chevrolet was established in Clearwater, Florida in 1924 and employs more than 110 people. The car dealership was selected as the best auto dealership for 2015 by Creative Loafing’s Best of the Bay. Dimmitt Chevrolet was also named one of Tampa Bay’s top 100 places to work by the Tampa Bay Times in 2015.

Dimmitt Chevrolet to host 18th annual Corvette show to benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation

CLEARWATER, Fla. – T20141018_130738_resizedhe 18th annual Bay Area Corvette Club Show is scheduled to be held at Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater on Oct. 17 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. with this year’s focus being to benefit children’s cancer research. The show will officially kick off with opening ceremonies at 11 a.m.

Each year the club members select a charity to benefit through America’s patriotic values and the love of classic cars.

“We truly look forward to the Corvette show each year,” said Scott Collore, general manager of Dimmit Chevrolet. “Community events like this are a lot of fun and they serve an important purpose by bringing awareness and fundraising to issues like children’s cancer research.”

20141018_130808_resizedThis year the Pediatric Cancer Foundation will receive 100 percent of the money raised through entry fees, raffle ticket sales, 50/50 raffle and a live auction. Those who wish to donate directly to The Pediatric Cancer Foundation may do so at the event.

“We hold this show once a year with the intent of raising money for a specific charity the club selects early in the year,” explained Jack Tipton, president of the Bay Area Corvette Club.

The event is open to the general public at no cost. Over 100 cars are expected to be on display at this year’s show, providing the public a wide variety of Corvettes to see. There will be eleven classes and they are based on the seven generations of the Corvette (C1-C7), plus a class for modified and custom. The top three cars in each class will be awarded a trophy.

“Being able to come together and have a great time to raise money for charity is what the Bay Area Corvette Club represents,” said Tipton.  “This year it was all about helping the children.”

The Pediatric Cancer Foundation is dedicated to funding research to eliminate childhood cancer through our Sunshine Project.  Our focus is to find less toxic, more targeted therapies by partnering with leading hospitals nationwide.  We have assembled leading doctors and researchers from the country’s finest hospitals, all of whom have unique skill sets.  By agreeing to work together through the Sunshine Project, we have launched four clinical trials at 14 hospitals in eight years, opened the first blood and tissue banking program in Florida, and funded a new laboratory at Moffitt Cancer Center.

Luxury Italian fashion brand holds seasonal launch in Clearwater

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The luxury Italian fashion brand, GIOFFRÈ, and Villa Bellini restaurant in Clearwater kicked off Gioffre’s seasonal fashion launch with spectacular style Thursday evening. The event was filled with fashion, fine Italian food, wine, cocktails, deserts and live music.

At 7 p.m. on Thursday, traffic on Gulf to Bay Boulevard in Clearwater between U.S. 19 and McMullen Booth Road nearly came to a halt as limousines and exotic cars pulled into the parking lot of the beautifully remodeled 1929 building, which used to house Tio Pepe.

More than 300 guests wearing suits, tuxedos and gowns for the “creative black tie” dress code waited briefly in line next to Ferraris and Ducati motorcycles for the fashion show and culinary experience, named The Fairest of Them All. During the event, GIOFFRÈ showcased their autumn and winter collection, with over 40 new styles on a white-carpet fashion runway.

Attendees met with Angela Gioffrè, fashion designer and founder of GIOFFRÈ, and sampled fine Italian cuisine prepared by Ciro Mancini, executive chef of Villa Bellini.

Additionally, the renowned artist, Dick Zimmerman was on hand to exhibit his paintings. Zimmerman has painted portraits for Salvador Dali, Michael Jackson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, John Travolta, Tom Cruise and many others. His newest art features exquisite jewels mixed into his paintings, but he is perhaps best known for creating the album cover to Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

New rifle designed to never be used by Muslim terrorists

The Spike’s Tactical Crusader is a new version of the AR-15 assault rifle and is designed with the purpose that it will not be able to be used by Muslim terrorists.

On the right side of the rifle, the Bible verse, Psalm 144:1 is laser etched into the magazine well. The Bible verse says, “Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.”

“Right now and as it has been for quite some time, one of the biggest threats in the world is and remains Islamic DSC_0427 (2)terrorism,” said Ben “Mookie” Thomas, spokesman for Spike’s Tactical, who is a former Navy Seal and former Blackwater security contractor. “We wanted to make sure we built a weapon that would never be able to be used by Muslim terrorists to kill innocent people or advance their radical agenda.”

The rifle shoots standard .223 or 5.56 ammunition, but can be modified to shoot 300 AAC Blackout ammunition by simply changing the barrel.
