Chuy’s Tex-Mex to open first Tampa Bay area location

Austin-based restaurant to bring authentic Tex-Mex to the Tampa area

TAMPA, Fla. – Chuy’s, the Austin-based Tex-Mex restaurant known for its made-from-scratch dishes and fun-loving, eclectic atmosphere is opening its first Tampa Bay area location this Spring near Cypress Creek Town Center in Wesley Chapel.

The Cypress Creek Town Center location is Chuy’s 9th in Florida, joining other locations in Orlando, Jacksonville, Gainesville and Tallahassee.

For more than 35 years, Chuy’s has been known for its commitment to providing made-from-scratch Tex-Mex using only the freshest ingredients. The menu includes dishes made from hand-rolled tortillas cooked fresh all day on a traditional comal in the dining room and homemade signature sauces ranging from the mild Tomatillo to their spicy Hatch Green Chile. It showcases authentic recipes found in South Texas, New Mexico and Mexican border towns.

“We are excited to share our passion for fresh food and unique flair with this awesome community,” said Helen Bowen, Chuy’s Wesley Chapel Local Owner Operator. “Everything that leaves our kitchen is made-from-scratch and we hope you feel the time and love we put in to each and every plate.”

The menu is packed with mouthwatering original creations and favorites like Chuy’s “Big As Yo’ Face” burritos, the hand-pulled chicken stuffed “Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom” enchiladas and the famous “Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken,” which comes breaded in Lay’s potato chips and smothered in Green Chile Sauce.

The new Chuy’s location will span nearly 8,500-square-foot, including an expansive 605-square-foot patio. Guests visiting the restaurant can expect a medley of vibrant décor and eclectic touches like a custom Elvis shrine, the La Chihuahua Bar featuring framed pictures of local dogs, a school of hand-carved wooden fish, metal palm trees and a hubcap-covered ceiling.

Chuy’s new restaurant will be located at 25750 Sierra Center Boulevard Lutz, Florida 33559 and will be open seven-days-a-week for lunch and dinner: from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

On weekdays, the restaurant will also feature daily drink specials and a Fully-Loaded Nacho Car, a free build-your-own nacho station with chips, salsa, queso, ground sirloin and more, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
