New Safety Harbor Art & Music Center set for grand opening

shamclogo-01_origSAFETY HARBOR, Fla. – After more than four years of construction and fundraising, the Safety Harbor Art & Music Center (SHAMc) is scheduled to hold its grand opening festivities from Nov. 25-27.

The grand opening kicks off the first day of SHAMcGivinG, a weekend long mini festival to be hosted at the center. The three day event is free to the public and will feature art, music, parades and more.

Additionally, organizers will hold a symbolic artistic ribbon cutting and decorated umbrella parade on Nov. 26.

Attendees of the event will have the chance to enjoy performances from some of Safety Harbor SongFest’s favorite national artists, as well as, top bay area musicians. Featured artists include Bing Futch, Brooke Ramel, Callaghan, Daphne Willis, Dave Herrero, Emily Kopp, Gareth Asher, Geri X, Hailey Steele, Joshua Reilly featuring Flycatcher & TJ Weger, Kip Kelly, Ryan Montbleau, Urban shamcgivingGypsies of Florida, and Victor and Penny.

In addition to live music, the event will host poets, comedians, improv performers, face painters, fortune tellers, costumed revelers and other artistic endeavors, like a community mural painting and a community mosaic project.

The newly completed center consists of the 100 year old Rigsby House and a new music pavilion, which is a mirrored mosaic masterpiece. Over 300 volunteers helped create the mosaics on the music pavilion over a two and a half year period. The center will serve as a multi-use venue for the community, as well as, the greater Tampa Bay area.

About Safety Harbor Music and Art Center
SHAMc is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to promote education in the fine art, visual arts, and performing arts. Todd Ramquist and Kiaralinda (no last name) wanted to create a community arts center for many years. SHAMc is currently under construction in downtown Safety Harbor and is quickly becoming a landmark. Founders Ramquist and Kiaralinda are both local artists who are globally renowned for their art house, Whimzeyland.
