CLEARWATER, Fla. – The list of participants for a free, veteran-oriented Tampa Bay area career fair scheduled to be held in Clearwater at Dimmit Chevrolet Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. has grown significantly since its inception and there is still time for more employers to sign up.

Dimmitt Chevrolet, which was recently voted one of the best places to work in Tampa Bay, and Bank of America teamed up to host the job fair for military veterans and members of the military who are transitioning out of military service. The job fair will also be open to members of the general public.

The event named, “American Cars, American Heroes,” will host many Tampa Bay area businesses and educational institutions.

In addition to Dimmitt Chevrolet and Bank of America, Action Fabrication and Truck Equipment, BayCare Health System, BluePearl Veterinary Partners, Chick-fil-A, Chix-N-Wings, City of Clearwater, Clearwater Fire & Rescue, Critical Intervention Services (CIS), Eckerd College, e-TeleQuote Insurance, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida Highway Patrol, FrankCrum Staffing, ITT Technical Institute, Jungle Cat Marketing, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Outback Steakhouse, PSI, The Parts House, Troops to Teachers, WRH Realty Services and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) have already signed up to participate. Several more agencies, businesses and organizations are expected to attend.

Those businesses will have representatives available to discuss employment opportunities with interested candidates, and the educational institutions will be able to help explain how veterans can use their GI Bill benefits to further their education. The Clearwater Vet Center and the VA will be on hand to provide information about benefits veterans may be eligible for.

Congressman Gus Bilirakis and Congressman David Jolly, of the U.S. House of Representatives, will also have tables present at the event.

In addition to being represented as employers, Chick-fil-A and Chix-N-Wings will be providing food for attendees. Paddocks Coffee is planning to provide coffee and The Original Hooters is also planning to provide food from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Another feature at the event will be the debut of a new brand of bottled water called American Heroes Artesian water. While the water for the event was purchased by Brave Marketing Concepts and will be provided to the attendees for free, a portion of the cost of the water will be donated to the Military Order of the Purple Heart and several other pro-veteran and pro-military charities. In the future, American Heroes Artesian bottled water will be available in stores throughout the nation with a portion of proceeds going to those charities.

American Heroes Artesian bottled water will feature an attached cutout with several opportunities for attendees to win prizes.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting such an event and to be able to say that more than 10 percent of our great team of employees, including one of our founders, have served in the military,” said Scott Collore, general manager of Dimmitt Chevrolet. “Being able to give something back to those who were willing to sacrifice it all, is something we are hoping more businesses will sign up for.”

The event is scheduled to be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 24 at Dimmitt Chevrolet, located at 25485 US Hwy 19 N, Clearwater, FL 33763. Businesses who are interested in hiring veterans and setting up a table at the event should contact susanallen@dimmittchev.com.

Dimmitt Chevrolet, Bank of America, Brave Marketing Concepts, Judge Public Relations and Socially Powered organized this campaign to help veterans smoothly transition from military to civilian life.
