BOSTON – Bottle Breacher, a veteran-owned company that hand-crafts .50-caliber bottler openers is scheduled to be at the Quincy Market building of Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston at 11 a.m. on Saturday to help assemble holiday care packages for troops.
To accomplish this project, Bottle Breacher has joined Wicked Good Cupcakes, a Massachusetts-based bake shop that specializes in producing baked goods like brownies, cheesecakes, cookies, cup cakes, and pies packaged in mason jars. In 2013, Wicked Good Cupcakes began hosting the annual event called, Taste of Home, which provides holiday gifts, letters and thank you notes to troops who are deployed overseas.
Members of the public are invited to attend the event and provide written letters and notes, which can be sent to the men and women serving overseas in the Middle East.
“We’re looking forward to this event and the opportunity to give back to our men and women who will not be home with their families over the holidays,” said Eli Crane, a former Navy SEAL and founder of Bottle Breacher. “This holiday season, I encourage everyone to take a moment and think about those men and women who won’t be with their families for Christmas, but who are making sure you will enjoy time with yours.”
Last year, more than 25 people attended and 65 large care packages were sent out. This year, more people are expected to be on hand to help with the project, which will provide hundreds of service members with hand written letters, encouraging notes and upwards of 3,000 cupcake jars made by Wicked Good Cupcakes.
“Wicked Good Cupcakes has always been a big proponent of giving back to the military and veteran community,” said Nora Weiss, brand manager for Wicked Good Cupcakes. “With the help of our awesome customers, we were able to bake and ship close to 2,000 jars last year.”
